Well Hello there....September!

Good Afternoon,

Ok so it's been ages and I can only apologies, my life has been crazy over the last couple of months and this is why...Last October I got diagnosed with Diverticular Disease and have had good and bad times with it, however from March I was referred to a specialist clinic at Kings College Hospital in London, which is great and I had it under control.

After our holiday to Fuerteventura I suffered a really bad infection (July), and was in hospital and have since seen my consultant, I am about to have a CT scan to see the damage done to my bowel and I am looking at surgery sooner than I thought..which as you can guess came as a shock, however I have picked myself up and now feel positive as it's life changing not life threatening.

However as this has been going on I have sort relaxation by knitting, baking and crochet as well as spending time with my hubbie and pickle who have been a great strength to me.

So I have lots to catch up on with you all, and I hope you are still interested...

Here are some of my recent photos to fill the gap for the moment.

These are from holiday in Fuerteventura, which we love.

Mittens has got so big and is cheeky as ever!

We went to Firle Vintage Fair in August and it was amazing, old fair rides, vintage cars, vintage clothes and people dress in vintage clothes, it really was lovely day.
This covers summer hols.. fun in the sun and rainbow cake made by pickle.

These are my Rose City Roller socks

My 2nd Spice of Life blanket, now starting a cupcake pattern blanket...

When I was poorly I made these little square in bright colours, I am not sure what to make them into I have 24 of them...any ideas????

I hope all of you are keeping well and feel rested after the lovely weather have had in August, can't believe we are in September and my pickle is back to school, year 6 my godness time flies.

Won't leave it so long this time!

Blackberrys, cupcakes and Fun!

Good Morning,

Well I have my first cold of the Autumn! not happy about that.

Saturday was grey and cold here in Sussex, however we thought we would get out for a few hours, so popped to Bexhill.
Hubbie wanted to look around a vintage record store, which left pickle and me wandering around antiques and then found Cook! which sells ready made gluten free meals..They where recommended by a friend so I picked up a curry and rice for this week.

Pickle and hubbie noticed the desserts..Mango and Passionfruit Cheesecake and Lemon Cheesecake (not gluten free :( ) but they where purchased anyway.

After we popped along the seafront it was Fish Festival with stalls and music, so we looked around had a drink and some fresh seafood.  No pictures sorry about that.

That night we had friends around for drinks and nibble which was great fun.

Sunday dawned a bright and sunny day..love sunny days!

So pickle and me went blackberry picking along the cuckoo trial...here is our bounty

So a crumble was defiantly on the books:
Don't you love my bowl!

Mittens was dozing on the table in the sunshine..

So it was Roast pork for dinner with all the yummy extras - No pictures, as it was around long enough :)).

Here is the finished and cooked crumble

As you know me by now, not many a weekend goes by without some kind of cupcakes..so order of the day was Blackberry and Lemon cupcakes (they have a lemon curd centre) and Apple and Cinnamon cupcakes.

And as we where out on Saturday I came across these pretty ceramic pumpkins.. I just love them.

Hope you had a nice weekend!

Summer Garden Fun and My 100 post!!

Good Afternoon,

Well I can't believe this is my 100 blog post, I thought I would never even get to 20!

This weekend was lovely again, so most of the time spent in the garden.  I do love getting outside in the summer months, games in the garden, BBQ and fresh air.

The garden is starting to look pretty with colour, which is a miracle as we are not the most green fingered family.

Here are some pictures...

Since picking up Mittens from her holiday at the cattery, she seems much more relaxed and we have introduced her to the outdoors, I really cannot go though another summer with all the doors and windows closed!, so she has really taken to going outdoors, and this her in the garden.

The other side to this, is that she thinks she can get out from whatever window, she is officially down to seven lives, after jumping/falling from upstairs windows, hmmmm
Don't worry she is fine, just wish she would learn.

So the paddling pool is now a permanent fixture in the garden. Well for as long as the warm weather continues.

Here is pickle enjoying a lolly in the garden, note the pink chairs they have all now been painted and have added some more colour to our garden.

Well I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.. and long may it continue.

Back again soon, and thanks for stopping by

Happy Weekend!

Good Afternoon,

Well my weekend started very nice, A friend and me went out for dinner at our local Prezzo, which started with a couple of glasses of Prosecco and and a lovely gluten free pizza for me and Roasted Duck leg for my friend.
It was nice to go out and catch up we where the last to leave the restaurant!
On Saturday we did some tidying up and then hubbie, pickle and me caught the train to Lewes, as it' was Record Store day, there is a really great record store in Lewes,  Union Music Store.

They had live bands playing during the day, and Harveys Ale which pleased hubbie very much.. as you can see.

My friends hubbie was also DJ there in the afternoon, so we caught up with him, and then we wondered around Lewes, it's a great place to look around, lots of independent shops and antiques halls.

On Sunday the sun was shining again, so Pickle and me washed our car and mowed the lawn, and then it was bike ride time...

As we walked/cycled we came across this pretty blossom tree and a very pretty pond, I have never noticed before.

And what better way to end the weekend then a cup of Tea and a slice of Banana loaf.

Hope you all had a nice weekend and enjoyed the weather!

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello March!

Good Afternoon,

I love March, you get a feel that Spring is coming (which means now I have said that it will snow next week!).

But I do love this month, maybe because it's my birthday and Mother day this month, which I really look forward too,  and also pickle loves to celebrate other people birthday's as much as her own, (even when she doesn't understand that Adults don't always look forward to it in the same way) bless!

So didn't do much this weekend, as still feeling under the weather...

I did however enjoy some sewing on Saturday, I am in the process of making some bunting for pickles bedroom, picture to follow soon..this was using my lovely vintage singer machine yay.

We finished our Spring wreath... what do you think??

Sorry the light in my lounge is not the greatest!

I am still going with my crochet block scarf which is a mixture of Stylecraft DK yarns.

On a trip to Morrisons on Saturday we picked up some pretty potted baby daffidils and primroses which are making the kitchen window look bright.

And of course there was baking... just some vanilla and lemon cupcakes with spring flowers on the top.

Hope the sun keeps shining, have a good week, and thanks for stopping by.

It's Friday!!!!

Good Afternoon,

And after 1 week back I am glad it's Friday!

It's been horrible weather here in Sussex the last couple of days, grey, wet and now windy (not as bad as Scotland I have to add).

I have been meaning to share with you, this present that my lovely sister got me for Christmas!

It's a lovely ceramic bowl with Michelle's Make and Bake Bowl around the top
I was a very happy girl on Boxing Day!

I intend on using it for some baking this weekend, I fancy a nice family fruit loafx

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend of making, I am starting a knitting project - a wrap for myself, and I am in the process of making a new cushion cover, which will be faux suede back and patchwork front.

I have really enjoyed being part of the blog community and can't believe how many great people I have come across who like similar things to me, it really nice and makes me happy on these gloomy January days.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Saturday Morning thoughts

As I sit drinking tea and looking at the strange yellow sky with the sound of rain outside, I think what will my weekend consist of....

I am thinking not alot as still feeling under the weather, so maybe doing some more of mother in law scarf, finish little pickle halloween dress and day dreaming of having my own craft/sewing room one day...

I vision it to be pale colours with up cycle table and full of pretty things just for me, I keep seeing loads on piniterest, maybe next year!

I did manage to master cable knitting the other day, as I wanted to make something for my friend who has been taking pickle to school for me, this is my gift for her.

A cable bracelet

Hope
you enjoy your weekend!

Hello October!

Well Good Afternoon,

So Hello October as the thought of falling leaves, dark nights and getting ready for Halloween makes me smile and feel fuzzy inside.

Halloween is a big thing in our house, which has come along way from when I was little back then it just involved my mum getting a witches hat and making a dress out of a blackbag. However the love of halloween grow and  I decorate nearly every room with things I have made or collected over the years, and we all get dressed up including hubbie, and either go trick or treating or stay home to wait for little visitors with bowls of sweets..

The pumpkin pie recipe is located and ready to go, I make one for my father in law too, as he love pumpkin pie. As we have about 4 large craved pumpkins I end up with lots of flesh for stews, pies, soup and of course spiced cupcakes(which this year I will be making Gluten-free), I will also need to try to get to grips with Gluten Free pastry wish me luck!

I have seen some great posts on other blogs showing coloured corn so this weekend I shall be visiting our local garden centre in a hunt to find some.

I also trying to find time to start making my daugthers halloween skirt and top outfit, I don't know where my time goes at the moment, can someone please slow it down...

I have managed to finish my crochet lampshade cover, which I am pleased with as I have only been crocheting for alittle while.

At least my boring plain lampshade looks nice in the Autumn colour.

Now to start crocheting Christmas gifts and projects yay!
Have a nice afternoon

Mittens the kitten...

Back in july we got our kitten from cat protection, she was only 8 week old!

And it was like having a baby in the house again-the constant no mittens stop biting the dining
chairs, cleaning up, feeding....

However she has grown since than but still into everthing!:)

But while she is purring away on my lap as i type this, I couldn't
imagine home without her, she loves my knitting bag.
She makes us laugh out loud which is good for
everyone.

Have a nice evening
