Socks, Socks and More Socks!

Good Afternoon,

Well it's been a windy day here today... I hope everyone is enjoying some autumn sunshine, as I type I am sitting at my desk having a nice cup of tea!

I have over last year or so, become addicted to making socks, mainly due to Christine's book Super Socks, I have increased my yarn stash a fair amount, as I keep seeing so much lovely yarn.

Here are my latest pair off the needles, it's yarn from Norah George . Buddy the Elf

Here are my first 2 pairs, both knitted with Heart and Sole yarn.

I am at the moment knitting a pair with Pumpkin Spice yarn again by Norah George..

I did make some shorter trainer style socks with heart and sole yarn, here is the finished product and Christine book!

For Harry Potter fans, I knitted a pair in Hermonie purple yarn,

I did warn you I am addicted, I have recently purchase some Halloween theme yarn which I need to ball. so photos to come!

I have neglected my sewing machine somewhat recently mainly due to sock knitting! and summer holidays, but as the nights draw in, I have dusted it off and have many plans to make things just not enough hours in my day.. The other night is was nice and bright so I managed to get some cutting done in the garden, I think the light in this photo is pretty

So my Autumn crochet wreath is up and I am looking forward to the coming season.

Hope you enjoyed my sock journey!, thanks for popping by!

Well Hello there....September!

Good Afternoon,

Ok so it's been ages and I can only apologies, my life has been crazy over the last couple of months and this is why...Last October I got diagnosed with Diverticular Disease and have had good and bad times with it, however from March I was referred to a specialist clinic at Kings College Hospital in London, which is great and I had it under control.

After our holiday to Fuerteventura I suffered a really bad infection (July), and was in hospital and have since seen my consultant, I am about to have a CT scan to see the damage done to my bowel and I am looking at surgery sooner than I thought..which as you can guess came as a shock, however I have picked myself up and now feel positive as it's life changing not life threatening.

However as this has been going on I have sort relaxation by knitting, baking and crochet as well as spending time with my hubbie and pickle who have been a great strength to me.

So I have lots to catch up on with you all, and I hope you are still interested...

Here are some of my recent photos to fill the gap for the moment.

These are from holiday in Fuerteventura, which we love.

Mittens has got so big and is cheeky as ever!

We went to Firle Vintage Fair in August and it was amazing, old fair rides, vintage cars, vintage clothes and people dress in vintage clothes, it really was lovely day.
This covers summer hols.. fun in the sun and rainbow cake made by pickle.

These are my Rose City Roller socks

My 2nd Spice of Life blanket, now starting a cupcake pattern blanket...

When I was poorly I made these little square in bright colours, I am not sure what to make them into I have 24 of them...any ideas????

I hope all of you are keeping well and feel rested after the lovely weather have had in August, can't believe we are in September and my pickle is back to school, year 6 my godness time flies.

Won't leave it so long this time!

Hello it's been awhile.....

Good Afternoon,

It's been crazy busy this last couple of weeks, nothing in particular just life really, I am however enjoying the new sunny weather and am looking forward to the summer months.

I have been doing some sewing at the weekends which is great, as I just love it, here is a cushion cover I have finished.

I did start a dress last Autumn and I have now finished it and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

With all the better weather, we have been doing work in the garden, the other day hubbie found this little fellow, pickle thought it was amazing and we did keephim for a couple of days, but he is now back in the wild!

At May day bank holiday we went out for lunch and on the way back some across some lovely cute spring lambs and this very cute little baby bunny...

Isn't it a cute little bunny!

My wool stash is growing, and I have managed to finish another pair of socks, and have just cast on another pair, I think I am addicted!

Pickle had her school spring concert, I was such a proud mum, she played chasing cars by snow patrol on Guitar and sung with the choir!
I will leave you with a picture of Mittens with her sun hat on!
Have a nice weekend!

Some Sewing!

Good Afternoon,

As it was so wet again yesterday, it did turn out to be a relaxing day of crafts and family time.

I am really into sock knitting at the moment, I am slow as I have just mastered the magic loop way of knitting socks, I did try with DPN's to start but felt like I was knitting with a hedgehog!

I have ordered myself some short circular to try next.

I ordered some yummy yarn from Tracy at Norah George it's called Maldives and it's so like the Maldives in colour sea blues and sand yellows.

Well I thought what I really need is a little bag to put my sock projects in...and I needed a excuse to use my new extension table for my sewing machine, which hubbie brought me for Christmas, here is bag in progress.

Sorry about the light but, it's so dark all the time.

And here is the finished bag.
The heart ribbon was a Christmas present from my little pickle!bless her.

I manage to do some more on my 2nd crochet blanket, I just find crochet so relaxing, and it comes along quickly.
Well I am off in minute to meet a friend for coffee.
Have a great day!

Knitting and Crochet therapy..

Good Afternoon,

Well this weekend went in a blur, it seems like as soon as it's Friday I am getting up on Monday.

Saturday was a great day wet and windy here, so just did housework and sorting out for Christmas.  We then had friends round in the evening which was lovely.

I want to share an update, Halloween weekend I went into hospital for my scan and I have been diagnosed wih Diverticular Disease, so I finally have answer to my problems, now I just have to see a consultant to find out where I go from here.

I am feeling sore still and a bit lost but hopefully can start to more forward soon.
For my Therapy at the moment I have been working on my knitting and crochet, I have finished my SOL CAL, pictures to follow on a separate post but I will say I have so enjoyed this CAL and am looking to make another one soon.

Here is a cowl that I am working on for pickles Christmas present it matches her hat.

Also I have started my first pair of socks using DPN's and I am enjoying it, it's not going to be a quick project but I will take my time and get it right.

here is the progress.

I am trying to get organised with what to make for Christmas presents, I think I am there, so it's time to dust off the sewing machine and get on...

On a different note when I took the Halloween decorations down the lounge looked bare, so I have left some pumpkins out and made this centrepiece.

Oh well it will soon be time to sort out the Christmas decorations...can't wait love it!
Thanks for popping by

February at Last!

Good Afternoon,

Yay, January is over, I am so glad, I find January a long month after the excitement of Christmas.  It's got colder here in Sussex at the moment, but no more snow yet!

The weekend was spent pottering around at home finishing some projects that have been kicking around since Christmas.

I promised to make hubbie some waist warmers, and here they are...

I got home Friday to a parcel of Stylecraft wool in spring colours, take a look, I love getting new wool, it's such a joy.

The big yarn on the right is Wendy Mode Chunky for my cape!(Another WIP)

So Saturday was a day of making, I finished my patchwork cushion cover for the lounge, I am very pleased with my first attempt of patchwork.

Pickle is learning Guitar at school, so it was lovely to see hubbie and pickle sitting down together to play some cords..
Sunday was a day of Roast Lamb, with all the trimmings, and some more knitting, my friends hubbie want a scarf but it had to be black, which I found odd, as I usually like bright colours, I did the cowl in moss stitch which turned out nice and not so plain.

Well hope you all had a nice weekend!

Thanks for popping by and hope you pop by again soon

It's Friday!!!!

Good Afternoon,

And after 1 week back I am glad it's Friday!

It's been horrible weather here in Sussex the last couple of days, grey, wet and now windy (not as bad as Scotland I have to add).

I have been meaning to share with you, this present that my lovely sister got me for Christmas!

It's a lovely ceramic bowl with Michelle's Make and Bake Bowl around the top
I was a very happy girl on Boxing Day!

I intend on using it for some baking this weekend, I fancy a nice family fruit loafx

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend of making, I am starting a knitting project - a wrap for myself, and I am in the process of making a new cushion cover, which will be faux suede back and patchwork front.

I have really enjoyed being part of the blog community and can't believe how many great people I have come across who like similar things to me, it really nice and makes me happy on these gloomy January days.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

My First make of 2015!

Good Afternoon,

I would just like to say, a Big Thank You to everyone I have met on here, I really enjoy being part of the blogging community.

As we start the New Year, I am already thinking of the new projects I want to start and share with you all.  I think I would like to do a granny square/Crochet blanket in 2015, as I have seen so many beautiful blankets on here by other bloggers, just got to decide on what colour to do it in, to many choices.

I have already knitted my first thing of 2015, it's name is Olive the Owl, well it was this morning but pickle may of changed it by the time I get home from work.

Here is Olive...

On New Years day, due to the Christmas Cake not turning out as I would of liked, little pickle and me decided to make cupcakes...

We made Chocolate Peppermint, using up the last of the Candy canes for topping, and Champagne and Strawberry Cupcakes..

Here they are.. All Gluten Free.

On Saturday we want to Hobbycraft (one of my favourite shops) Little pickle wanted some card making supplies, and while we where there we found these...

By the end of Sunday, the cat looked like this

...I love Decopatch!

Hope you all have a good day

Thanks again for visiting!

Bonfire night and Christmas treats

Good Afternoon...

It's been alittle while, this is due to Bonfire Night and having too many Christmas craft projects on the go at once!

I am already getting excited with pending Christmas Festivities, as they have already got the Christmas movie channel on the TV, the shops are now full to the brim with food, present ideas and decorations.

Bonfire night in our house was Saturday, it was good fun if a little wet at the end. The Fireworks where organised by hubbie, pickle enjoyed the giant sparklers and I prepared Hot Dogs for after... I did take some pictures but they are not really good enough to put on her, I am still learning the different functions on my camera, will get there in the end.

On Sunday I decided to start soaking the fruit for the cake, the smell is so lovely, can't wait to get baking it this weekend.

I have to declare having my first glass of mulled wine of the winter, hmmmmm oh and Gluten Free mince pie.

I have been getting some Christmas presents and pickles list is growing by the day..bless her ! Argos catalogues have alot to answer for!

However I have been getting on with my many making projects, hubbie snood is coming along me and the circular needles are starting to be friends :)))

Wrist warmers are a big thing in my house, here is mine and pickles that I made last year..

And here is another pair in the making for someone??? For who you just have to wait until 25th December - x

I am already having nightmares of the damage Mittens is going to do to our Christmas tree this year...

As I was poorly on Saturday, pickle and hubbie went shopping and came back with this to cheer me up... I have to say it did the trick , (it plays music too)

Hope you all have a good week!
