Happy St Georges Day!

Good Afternoon,

Happy St Georges day one and all!, that's what my pickle came out with this morning!

Image result for st georges day

So yesterday I picked pickle up from school and when we got home, she wanted to do some baking...
As it was someone in my office has Chickens and they had brought some fresh laid eggs,
Here are the eggs pre baking..

And here are the cupcakes, as you can see their is a St Georges Day, Vanilla with Strawberry and Vanilla Buttercream frosting on top!

After baking, we popped into the garden to see what's growing, and the Wood Pigeon is back in her nest, (she disappeared earlier in the week), there are 3 eggs in the nest, we are lucky with get them every year!

On wondering around the garden, all the time pickle doing cartwheels, she loves being outside, I am across the Magnolia bush has now bloomed, and some other flowers(Sorry gardeners I am completely clueless with gardening) have come out!

On the way home I shall pop into the wine seller and pick up some St George's ale for hubbie,
Hope you all have a good day

Sewing and mittens!

So I had a lovely afternoon catching up with some of the mums from post natal group ( 9 years ago) had a pub lunch and a good chat, just the way to start the weekend.

After picking pickle up from school, I thought we could bake some cakes.
Banana cake, fruit cupcakes and apple and cinnamon.

Then I wanted to dust off the sewing machine, and make the cushion however mittens had other plans :))

Here it is part finished.

now time for a cup of tea and some crochet

It's Friday!!!!

Good Afternoon,

And after 1 week back I am glad it's Friday!

It's been horrible weather here in Sussex the last couple of days, grey, wet and now windy (not as bad as Scotland I have to add).

I have been meaning to share with you, this present that my lovely sister got me for Christmas!

It's a lovely ceramic bowl with Michelle's Make and Bake Bowl around the top
I was a very happy girl on Boxing Day!

I intend on using it for some baking this weekend, I fancy a nice family fruit loafx

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend of making, I am starting a knitting project - a wrap for myself, and I am in the process of making a new cushion cover, which will be faux suede back and patchwork front.

I have really enjoyed being part of the blog community and can't believe how many great people I have come across who like similar things to me, it really nice and makes me happy on these gloomy January days.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Blogmas 2014 - Day 11 - Christmas Food what's on the menu?

Good Morning,

Ooh food again, it seems we like to do lots of feasting this time of year!

Due to my change in diet (Gluten Free) I have had to amend many of my recipes this year, but so far so good, even managed to master Puff Pastry (I Know!), If I didn't work I would spend most of my time in the kitchen baking.

So it's the usual but scrummy Christmas cake decorated by me and little pickle, we are going to square this year instead of round, and I think with snowmen, presents, and tree's on top, watch this space....

Mince pies, sausage rolls, cheese straws are all firm favourite's, however I may make a sausage plait this year, like my mum used to make when we were little.

Christmas Morning usually starts with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and bacon for hubbie, and of course bucks fizz.

Now the Festive Lunch/Dinner depending on when we fancy eating now set times in our house just go with the flow of the day, I never really panic about cooking Christmas dinner I think because the first time I cooked it was about 12 years old as my mum was poorly at the time.
Anyway sorry gone of course!!

So it has to be Roast Turkey, Stuffing, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Roasted Parsnips, and greens (No Brussels sprouts), with homemade gravy and cranberry sauce.

For pudding - Very traditional Christmas Pudding with cream, brandy butter, or baileys cream.

Then later - Sandwiches, pickles, red cabbage and more sweets, mince pies etc

My word it makes me hungry just typing this out, so looking forward to it!

I also cook a ham flavoured with Honey and Cloves, which we eat boxing day with cold turkey and pickles.

Hope you enjoyed my post

donkey and lunch???

well my hubbie  wanted to cheer me up, so he  took me and pickle out for lunch, which proved a mission as we couldn't remember where the pub was, from one of our many drives in the east Sussex Countryside..
We found it in the end the brewers arms vine cross.
The staff were so friendly and happy. The tables had wine bottle candles which onva autumn day made it feel warm and comforting....then they lit the fires god I love living in the countryside..

pickle loving the log shove!
I know you wonder about the donkey??... well after a very lovely lunch steak for hubbie, lamb shank for me and eggs benedict for pickle, there was a surprise...a donkey appeared in the bar..

and pickle loving nature

we had a great time
